Come Sunday afternoon – come reading magazines – CR Fashion Book Issue 4

This week my sunday afternoon magazine – issue 4 of Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion book. Short explanation for all, who have not yet heart of that fabulous magazine: Carine Roitfeld was the former editor in chief of French Vogue and one of the major forces behind the so called “porno-chic”, which helped Tom Ford to popularize Gucci. In Jan 2011 she left French Vogue to launch her own publication. The first issue of CR Fashion book appeared for fall 2012 and was inspired by the birth of Carine Roitfeld’s granddaughter. The book appears biannually and is one of my favorite fashion magazines at the moment.

The topic of issue 4 is fairy tales. It covers several fantastic photo stories and great text. My 3 favorites among them:

  1. The Louis Vuitton shooting, which shows the fabulous pieces from Marc Jacobs final collection, including the fabulous NN bag. They are combined with pieces from former collections like the Stephen Sprouse and Yayoi Kusama collaborations as well as items by young designers in a fantastic circus scenario.
  2. Another great work is the fashion fairy tale “Flowers for Ferdinando” written and shot by Tom Ford. Its inspired by the Spanish fairytale “The story of Ferdinand” and deals with a soft hearted boxer, who loves flowers and fragrances much more then fighting. (If you are interested – The full story is online here.)
  3. The fashion story inspired by “The Empress new clothes” is my third favorite. It combined high fashion of the moment pieces with a simple plastic waist bag, which is draped and twisted and folded around the body resulting in strangely beautiful looks. Isn’t that the extreme of high and low mix, which is even working with a waist bag when done appropriately?

All in all again a fantastic issue. If you have a more detailed interest the homepage of CR Fashion book provides great information on the issue as well as background infos.
