Balenciaga cutout boots – Which brands got inspired?

The Balenciaga cutout boots, which were first shown on the runway for spring 2011, are a hit and inspired many brands from high fashion to high street to launch their own take on the cutout shape.

Pierre Hardys version is incredible. They have the very trendy cutout detail but a more classic shape compared with the Balenciaga cutout boots. They can be worn barefoot or with contrasting socks, semi sheer black socks might also work well. Regarding price they are in the same range as the Balenciaga version, but might be a little more timeless.

Another great style are Alexander Wang’s Julia cutout boots. They were worn by Alexa Chung and look totally fabulous, trendy, yet elegant and classic. I think that they are out of stock at the moment, but they would make a great shoe to return for this years Alexander Wang x H&M capsule collection.

Furthermore, TopShop offers cool cutout styles. My favorite among them are the “KUB” boots. They follow the trend but do not look like a copy of the Balenciaga cutout boots as one of the Zara styles does. They will definitely look great with boyfriend jeans, shorts or dresses.
