You can t go wrong with Churchs! They are the ultimate classic piece! I bought mine 11 years ago back in 2003. I have to admit that there were seasons where I rarely wore them, but lately I returned to them and still love them. Best color is definitely something neutral like black or cognac.

Another incredible brand I came across recently while shopping at L’Eclaireur, 40 Rue de Sévigné, Paris is the Milanese label Marsèll. At first sight there is nothing special about them, but if you go a little deeper and take a closer look you are going to realize the vintage look of the shoe sole and leather, which gives them an almost gothic vibe.
