La Maison Champs Elysees – A Margiela designed hotel in Paris

As we are quite frequently in Paris we have already experienced many different hotels. As we really enjoyed our last stay at Hotel du Continent we had favoured it this time as well. However, due to the Ascension day on Thursday and maybe French Open it wasn’t available. Consequently, we chose another one, which I wanted to experience for so long – La Maison Champs Elysees.

Way to the elevators at La Maison Champs-Elysées. Floor, walls and ceiling are painted silver, which results in a tunnel like feeling.

La Maison Champs Elysees – The service

In advance to our stay we asked for some dinner resrvations, which worked just perfect. Upon arrival at the hotel the receptionista told us that our rooms aren’t ready yet (OK it was 10:00 a.m.) and promised to call us when they are finished (what she did at around 1:00 p.m.) – pretty good as regular check-in is at 3:00 p.m.. In the afternoon we received a miniature “tarte aux framboises et pistaches” as a welcome from the hotel.

Our delicious welcome mini cakes at La Maison Champs-Elysées.

As we neither used room service nor the hotel restaurants I can’t say much more regarding the service at La Maison Champs Elysees. The only thing my husband missed a little was a gym (Just for reference the hotel has no spa, gym or pool – not a real problem for me, but maybe a little bit of a drawback for a 5 star house in Paris!).

La Maison Champs Elysees – The location

The hotel is situated in a quiet street just between Grand Palais and the Triangle D’Or, Paris luxury shopping hub, which is more than perfect.

I guess that the views from the rooms differ a lot depending on the category you choose. However, we had booked on a “Junior Boutique suite”, the best room category in the boutique room collection of the hotel! Our room was on the 3rd floor with a view on the terrace restaurant, the street and a neighbooring glass and steel office buidling, which did not really evoke a feeling of Parisian spirit at all!

La Maison Champs Elysees – The design

The community spaces (lobby, bar and restaurant) as well as 17 rooms, the so called couture collection, are designed by Margiela. However, the vast majority of rooms, including our room, is not!  The community spaces are pretty cool! The Margiela wall papers, Trompe-l’œil rugs and crystal cube reminiscent sculptures (the reception as such is a huge black crystal like cube) give the hotel a surrealist spirit. Its so much reminiscent of the Chanel crystal set for the fall 2012 show!

Lightning outside of our room.

In contrast to that our room was light and adhered to an earthy color scheme, which gave an almost nordic-scandinavian elegance.

The rooms were designed in an earthy color scheme!

Design pieces, like this Eames plastic chair contributed to a modern spirit of the rooms!

To sum up I really liked the hotel for the location, design and great service and can only recommend it! Do you have any experience with La Maison Champs Elysees? Did you enjoy your stay there?
