Pretty in pastels – Our visit at the New York City ballet!

I guess that a visit of one of the many Broadway musical shows might be an integral part of a New York experience at least for many European visitors. And honestly I held the strong believe that Broadway is the mayor center for performing arts in New York for a long time. In September 2010, when New York Fashion Week moved uptown from Bryant Park to Lincoln Center, I started to notice that there is performing art beyond Broadway in New York. Among the many options Lincoln Center offers for a cultural evening the New York City ballet caught my eye due to a collaboration with the Parisian artist JR in early 2014.

I immediately fell in love with this project. The large scale photographs with the ballet dancers dressed all white in front of this white paper had something so floating almost like a Renaissance painting with a little twist of Margiela’s white paint coating.

That said I was totally obsessed to see a performance of the New York city ballet live and booked two tickets for “A midsummer night’s dream”. The performance was incredible and the costumes so beautiful. From time to time you had the impression that a warm summer breeze is moving the dancers costumes – Really, really beautiful!

After the performance we headed to Rosa Mexicano, a cool Mexican restaurant directly opposite of the David H. Koch theatre. There we shared some chicken tacos and an ice cream sundae with strawberries, raspberries and Mexican chocolate sauce. Everything was totally delicious and the atmosphere at Rosa Mexicano with the “Water Wall” is absolutely unique.
