De-sweeten blush pink pieces with a spot of bright red – Take inspiration from some recent fashion campaigns!

While in NYC a made a surprising purchase! While browsing the racks at Saks my sales assistant showed me a Rag & Bone top with an amazing cut and told me how beautiful it looks when its worn. However, it was kind of baby pink and made of almost 100% polyester. For me, whose wardrobe is strictly arranged into black, navy, white, khaki and neutrals, very little print (only breton stripes, gingham and plaid as well as few animal printed pieces) and almost only natural fabrics it was hard to consider a pieces that will stand out so much from the rest of the wardrobe. That said I tried it on, was amazed by the shape and somehow bought it – It was on sale so why not!?

Rag&Bone

Rag&Bone Fleet top I love the back detail!

During our whole NYC stay I neglected the top and kept it in its original wrapping – Something I rarely do with new fashion purchases. Beeing back home I started to search for options on how to dress down the unavoidable sweetness, girly and “plastic” factor. Doing so I repeatedly came across the addition of a small spot of red to something pink in some advertisements! This kind of “toxic color combination” somehow seems to neutralize the girly factor and makes pink a valuable color to be incorporated into a woman’s wardrobe.

I love how the Dior gum tee shirt earrings are are styled in the new *Secret Gardens* campaign film for Dior pre fall 2014, photo@dior.com

Taking this into account I feel that the Fleet top really looks great when combined with some distressed boyfriend jeans, a black blazer (my standard jacket), a natural colored shoe and a softly textured red handbag.
