Trending – Denim guide 2014!

The US are the country where denim was born and I personally somehow feel that you really see this until today. No matter whether you watch people in the streets or have a look at the department stores denim is everywhere. Luckily this coincides with the fact that I am a denim addict, who loves to browse the denim departments for hours. Summing up what I learned at the New York department stores denim sections here comes my denim guide 2014:

Denim guide 2014 – The skinny jeans

The skinny jeans stays in fashion! However, I feel that the fit starts to get a little looser, which means little slouchy instead of skin tight. For a long time it was common practice to wear the skinnies tight down to the ankle. Having a little access fabric at the ankle region was said to make the leg look bulky. Taking inspiration from the street and the ever increasing practice of cuffing the pants (I somehow feel that Emmanuelle Alt might have set that trend!) pre cuffed pants seem to flood the denim department. Besides pre cuffed jeans, jeans with a destructed hem seem to be trending. And lastly high rise returns. There are more and more natural and high waisted styles and very few low rise.

Denim guide 2014 – The boyfriend

I guess everyone who is not totally fashion blind has already tried the boyfriend shape and learned the lessons that they are not always flattering, they do not always make you look slim. However, once you have found your perfect boyfriend jeans you will never take them off.

Denim guide 2014 – The flared

I personally love a flared pant and a heel. They are so Jane Birkin when worn with a simple tee shirt and a raffia bag. However, I feel that they are also quite unpractical. They only work with a limited amount of shoes in the wardrobe and soak up all the water when the streets are wet. For me they are a niche style, which is definitely not to everyones taste.

Some of the best flared pants are definitely from “The Seafarer”, photo@http://www.theseafarer.com
