Buly 1803 – The revival of a Parisian heritage apothecary!

As mentioned a few times before I am not a beauty shopping addict and usually don’t like to try around a lot. However, lately I started to develop an interest in the use of vegetal and essential oils, herbal tinctures and the likes. For that reason I started to enjoyed shopping at Herboristerie du Palais Royal and L’Herboristerie Médicale de la Place de Clichy in Paris. When I heard that a French heritage apothecary called Buly 1803 has been revived – by the way the reopening was well publicized at the time of the couture shows in WWD and the US Vogue revealed Caroline de Maigret’s favorite Buly products – I immediately knew that I had to visit what sounded to me like the French answer to Santa Maria Novella during my next stay in Paris.

The newly opened Buly 1803 store at 6 rue Bonaparte, Paris

That said we went to the store and after a perfectly detailed explanation of the brand portfolio by a super welcoming sales assistant we were really captivated by what was on offer.

So here comes a short summary of the brands portfolio: 1.) In the home fragrances field she showed us scented candles in beautiful white or green marble (EURO 120.00) and scented matches in fabulously decorated vintage boxed (EURO 12.00), 2.) water based fragrances in vintage looking bottles (tubereuse is Caroline de Maigrets favorite, I loved “Rose de Damas”, EURO 110.00), 3.) several skincare products (I took a hand and foot cream for EURO 28.00), 4.) beautifully packed soaps (I took a “Rose de Damas” one for EURO 25.00!), 5.) vegetal oils (I took a noix d’andiroba oil, which is said to be good against beginning cellulite, EURo 3.00 for 10ml), floral distillates, powders, clays etc. and 6.) brushes, sponges (a body brush had to come home with me).

Our purchases at Buly 1803 – everything is wrapped so lovely that you can only adore it! I also love the accompanying booklet with explanations on all the vegetal oils and other Buly 1803 products!

At the moment I can only say that I am super happy with my purchases. My soap has found the way into my closet and seems to be better than any scented drawer liners! The hand treatment is very rich – so its fabulous in the evening! My noix d’andiroba oil seems to have a good effect on my thigh and the brush is superb. I am really looking forward to continue my shopping in September after finishing to read the interesting portfolio booklet our SA gave to us!

And good thing for all who are not in Paris too frequently – Buly 1803 is going to open an online store in the near future – So check the brands page regularly!
