Here are some more trends to keep in mind while coat shopping …

A trendy coat for fall has to be long, oversized or fitted and eventually have a zipper instead of buttons. These shape and hardwear trends we already know! But what to keep in mind regarding color and pattern?

Dries van Noten coat

Bright color, like Chanel, geometric patterns like this fab Dries van Noten coat or a contrasting lapel like Sacai Luck are among the major coat trends for fall, photos from style.com

As hard as it might be for all the black and white and 50 shades of grey addicts like me this fall is more about color than ever before! When it comes to color I personally can’t help to start with Chanel again! Because their A-line short coats, which came in yellow, green and orange with a colorful geometric patterned lining, are very much of a Chanel signature shape. And the orange one isn’t to hard to combine – Just think of how Raf Simons would do it (for some inspiration have a look at my post on how to incorporate the orange Raf Simons Stan Smith into your wardrobe).

Besides the bright colored plain coats, geometric patterned coats ruled the runway at Prada, Chanel and Dries van Noten.  A plain grey chesterfield Dries van Noten coat with a peaked lapel with just a tiny insert of black green pattern might be among the most wearable items to show that trend for fall!

For all those that are neither into bright color nor geometric pattern, a contrasting lapel might be one of the easiest ways to stay in trend for fall. Some brands that showed contrasting lapels on the runway were Chanel, Akris and Sakai.

Whats your opinion? Bright colored coat, geometric pattern or contrasting lapel – Which trend are you going to try for fall?

When it comes to coats I am a little bit of a problem person …due to my super narrow shoulders, I guess. The Chanel has a super wide lapel und unfitted shoulders, which might be unfavorable in my case. The Dries one is fitted and has a fab peaked lapel that elevates the shoulders visually. The Sacai is fitted as well but the really big and accentuated notched lapel gives the shoulders a significantly rounded feel. `so from the look at the pics I would definitely go for the Dries coat – Its super pretty 🙂

The Dries van Noten is pure perfection. Very classic but with a certain trendy edge. Guess that this coat would stay in the wardrobe for a long time! Oh, I thing I need this one – hope that Theresa gets it 🙂

orange seems to be the top color this fall – but I prefer it as an accessory color instead of a whole jacket:-)
