Sweater trends for fall 2014 – comic heros & Co.

Sweaters are a wardrobe staple – That’s for sure. But on the other hand they are also one of the biggest trends this upcoming fall! We already analyzed the trends regarding fabric and shape here on the blog so now its time to analyze whats trending regrading patterns!

Streetwear inspired sweaters with comic hero or fun prints are a big thing for fall 2014! all pics from style.com

COMIC HERO PRINT: Of course there was Jeremy Scott’s Moschino spongebob sweater. Sure its funny, carefree, witty, maybe a little bit to obvious – but somehow just the right piece for Cara Delevingne, Rhianna & Co. But for all those who have left their teenage years behind its unlikely to be a wise sartorial choice! Fay was another brand that got heavily inspired by comic heroes. In this case it was Woodstock the funny little friend of Snoopy. At Karen Walker a 50ies beauty with a biker style bandana above the mouth provided another option for all those, who search for a comic style printed sweater.

LOGOS: Besides comic prints, streetwear logos are still a big issue this fall and style.com already predicted that several Hood by Air logo pieces are going to be worn by showgoers during the upcoming fashion month.

60IES: Not everyone is into comic or logo sweaters that’s for sure! But 60ies graphic swirls are another major trend that might please a more grown up crowd. Dries van Noten showed them in super bright colors, the Miroslava Duma approved JW Anderson pre-fall throw-over had something of a Miro painting for me and Marc Jacobs interpreted the trend in pastels.

Intarsia and Norway style sweaters are classic, which is almost timeless, all pics from style.com

INTARSIA: If this still isn’t your thing intarsia is another thing that was very prominent in the collections. It was featured in Nicolas Ghesquière’s debut collection for Louis Vuitton, at Rag&Bone as well as Saint Laurent.

Whats your opinion? Are you more into comic and logo or do you prefer sixties and intarsia?

Might come as a surprise but I am in love with the spongebob. Its cute and somehow totally illustrates my state of mind arriving at home after a stressful working day. I would love it to wear at home, but I guess that its expensive – So I have to skip it 🙁

Very honestly none of the above sweater would make it onto my fall shopping list 🙁 I love simple plain once, very classic and surely a little boring. But that’s me 🙂

Logo sweaters? Really? I heard that even Abercombie discontinues the logo! I feel more that logo mania is reaching the end very soon!
