Fashion month is just around the corner …

On Thursday next week the biannual fashion month kicks of and the woman’s summer collections for 2015 are going to be presented. The marathon starts in NYC (detailed schedule is here), travels to London (schedule here), Milan (schedule here) and finally Paris (schedule here). Presentation of summer fashion at a time where everyone started to think about his upcoming fall wardrobe? Is there any reason for a consumer to follow these fashion shows?

fashion month 2015

Fashion month summer 2015 kicks off next Thursday and travels from New York to London to Milan and finally Paris! photos are from http://mtrinkoff.files.wordpress.com, a.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com, italia.it, http://annecatherinefrey.blogspot.de

First thing of course – These shows set the fashion trend! The things on the runway are the things that exactly tell you what everyone around you is going to wear during the next years. When you follow the shows you don’t need someone to tell you whats trending – you can make up your own mind and find out what attracts you and whats trending for you!

Besides the runway action there is the “unofficial catwalk”, which means street style and front row. I am always super excited to see what my style icons, Emmanuelle Alt, Carine Roitfeld, Kate Moss … are wearing to the shows. Although its crystal clear that neither front row nor street style is unbiased it provides me with endless inspirations on how to really wear some of the upcoming seasons top runway piece in almost “real life”.

When we forget about the fashion as such there is also an entertainment component about some of the shows. Let’s take e.g. the upcoming Opening Ceremony show staged Sept 7th. It is said that they are showing a one act play instead of a runway!

What do you think? Are you following fashion month on social media? Where do you retrieve more inspirations – runway or street style?

Honestly I didn’t know that until I read it here that there is a fashion month showing spring collection when fall arrives in store. Guess I won’t follow the presentations

Sure I follow fashion month! I am particularly looking forward to the Parisian shows in particular LV, Dior, Chanel and Valentino!

yes I follow the shows. I personally prefer the nyc shows because things are more wearable and the runway looks are more inspiring for me than the partially very costumy shows like chanel
