Trend report fall 2014 – The mod shift dress

Guess that even those persons with only the slightest fashion interest have recognized that 60ies are back this fall. In a previous post I already showed you the softly draped side of the era by means of Ossie Clark style flouncy dresses. But sure there is also another more structured and tailored side – its the original mod shift dress.

Worn by Emma Stone, Alexa Chung and Serinda Swan to name a few these dresses can look fabulous. On the runway they were shown at major presentations like Nicolas Ghesquière’s inaugural LV collection, ValentinoSaint Laurent  and Gucci just to name a few.

But as with many trends I feel that there is surely a shape and society role depending age cutoff when it comes to wearing these dresses! Surely black tights or even some pants worn underneath can help in some cases to pull the super short hemline off, but certainly the somehow inherent girly Twiggy factor isn’t made for many woman lets say above 40.

Whats your opinion on mod shift dresses? Do you like them and how would you wear them?
