Having a look at the guests pictures from a party Dior hosted last week at the Guggenheim Museum in NYC it seems that the success of the Dior tribal earrings, which started to be sold in summer 2013, simply won’t fade. But after some seasons of alterations of the signature Dior double pearl style you won’t believe what a supersingly beautiful new earring style arrives in stores at the moment!

Among the Dior tribale earring equipped celebrities attending the brands party at the Guggenheim museum in NYC earlier this week was model Sasha Luss. Worn asymmetrically with a deep side part and no additional statement jewelry the rounded earring shape blended perfectly well with her more angular facial contours.
Well Dior tribal was initially part of the brands pre-fall 2013 collection that hit stores around May last year. Being a huge hit the initial price within the European Union was EUR 270.00 a pair. However, the style was sold out everywhere and customers had to put their name on waiting lists to get their hands on the earrings. Thus letting secondary market prices sky rock with more than EUR 270.00 for one earring instead of a pair. Well by now things have changed for Dior tribal. Several new edition with prices going as high as EUR 440.00 have been introduced. For the original white resin pearl version there was a slight price increase by EURO 10 and now the earrings are available to order online at the dior.com e-shop. As intheircloset.com presented impressively back in October the “inspired by market” has been flooded offering look-alikes with a price range form half of the original to as little as $5.

Taking that into account sooner or later I guess its time for something new. Its called Dior Set earring and has already been introduced back in spring this year with the brands cruise 2015 collection, that hits stores at the moment! The Dior Set earring is not just a simple successor of the Dior tribal style but its more like a complimentary style bridging a previous gap. While the rounded tribal earrings with oversized pearls were more or less made for angular and certainly smaller faces, the new angular Dior Set style is perfectly suitable for the rounded and bigger faces!!!

Very honestly both are not so much my cup of tea. But if I had to choose I would choose the double pearl style!
Please stop the tribal thing! Yes Dior dresses all the celebrities they invited to their parties in the earrings, but in the streets I rarely see anyone with this style. And its even more rare that it looks good!!!!
OK I might be old fashioned but for jewellery for me its about precious stones and materials that also have some shine and sparkle. Particularly the blonde woman in the first picture does absolutely not benefit from the bulky black earring. And I absolutely don’t like the mix n match approach of her dressing – black shoes – black bag – black earring – not a winning look at all!
