A closer look at the Chanel Salzburg handbags

Surely the bags presented on a Chanel runway only make up a small portion of the huge amount of new colors and textures that will finally appear in store with a collection. And yes the runway bags aren’t really classy. Maybe not even timeless. But despite of that I always love to have a closer look at them and love to be inspired by how Chanel employed couture embroidery techniques for the design of its runway bags! So lets have a closer look at the Chanel Salzburg handbags!

An incredible floral embroidered flap bag came in several colors ranging from ivory and smoke blue to bright red. Some other versions of the classic flap bag drew inspiration from the military uniform pants stripes at the time of Austro-Hungarian monarchy or the traditional Austrian folk dressing.

The iconic 2.55, which celebrates its 60th anniversary next year, was reinterpreted with floral, butterfly and feather embroidery.

For all Boy bag fans there was a lot in the collection! A Boy bag with an embroidered trim and a fabric instead of metal strap seems to come in black and red.

Another Boy bag with a trim slightly reminiscent of fall 2014’s zipper details had a top handle and a shoulder strap.

Two outstandingly embroidered versions seemed to be worth to be displayed at a museum.

Two other incredible Boy bags, one in the most beautiful shiny olive green, came with a flap that could have been exotic leather, feather embroidery or sequins.

Besides the real Chanel icons some small rectangular clutch bags, which came with buckle style decorations, could be spotted repeatedly on the runway!

Among the more special pieces were hat box shaped bags, one of them with incredible feather embroidery by Maison Lemarie.

Messangers and backpacks inspired by traditional Austrian jackets as well as leather shorts continued a theme that had been started with the Boulevard Chanel summer 2015 collection.

Furthermore, classic flap bag messengers came in diamond stitching richly decorated with pins or beautiful floral embroidery.

At first sight the handbag collection that was shown on the Chanel Salzburg runway feels  promising! I am really looking forward to the launch of the collection next June to see pieces in reality!
