Prada creepers – Are they still trending?

Flat platform shoes or flatforms in fashion slang are definitely back on the trend radar for 2015. While about 10 years ago the flatform discussion used to be about sneakers this time around its about Oxford style lace up shoes. The Stella McCartney Elyse platform brogues were one of the most popular shoes during fashion month last September. However, what about the brand that brought the flatform back on the radar? What about the Prada creepers?

Originally launched at the beginning of 2011 as part of the Prada spring collection the “pretty ugly” creepers were a huge success. They were worn by fashion folks around the globe and landed on several magazine covers.

Today? Well they are still in the Prada stores and online shop and only very recently the brand launched a personalisation service for the shoe where customers could choose leather and sole design according to their personal taste.

However, lets be honest when I flip through street style photos from fashion week I don’t find a lot Prada creepers these days. And in “real life” in the streets – no one in Prada creepers!

Isn’t that weird the Prada take on the platform Oxford lace up seems on its way out of fashion while a totally similar version by Stella McCartney, namely the Elyse, is the ultimate shoe of the moment! What do you think about flat platforms in general? Which one do you prefer the Stella Mc Cartney or the Prada creepers?
