Thinking Chanel costume its only logical to imagine pearls. But since quite some seasons another signature style seems to compete with the pearl based designs on the Chanel runways. Its chain necklaces, bracelets and belts. Curious to see how Karl Lagerfeld reinvented the Chanel chain necklace style for his latest cruise collection staged in the South Korean capital of Seoul?

The Chanel chain necklaces that will arrive with the cruise Seoul collection in November this year are not only slightly bigger than their predecessors but also a lot more minimalist. They lack extensive crystal pavement and color making them a little more budget friendly and wearable in a casual as well as business context. Although I am not the biggest statement jewelry devotee I definitely feel that a paired down chain link choker like that has the potential to turn into a timeless wardrobe staple that’s working more than well for many years to come.

Besides chain link, pearl and flower inspired jewelry cruise Seoul offers a style of costume jewelry that seems new to the Chanel brand for me. Spiral tube necklaces and bracelets were presented in different colors. Depending on your personal imaginations you could easily associate them with the InvisiBobble plastic hairbands, which are currently so popular with the kids and teens in Germany, 90ies spiral telephone wires or with some avantgarde Iris van Herpen style fashion. For the first two associations you are likely to hate this new jewelry style for the third one you might tend to love it. I guess it’ll have a rather short live.
So what do you think about Chanel costume jewelry? Do you think its worth to buy?
