It took me until today to realize that I already analyzed the Chanel grocery store bags, jewelry and knitwear but totally forgot about the jackets. And whats a Chanel show without jackets right? So lets hurry and analyze them a little closer together! What looked easy to wear, versatile and timeless as well as of lasting or even increasing value?
Discussion point number 1 regarding the Chanel Couture fall 2014 presentation, which was held at the Grand Palais last week in Paris, definitely was the pregnant bride, in other words Ashleigh Good 7 months pregnant as well as the runway appearance of Kim Kardashian’s sister Kendall Jenner. That said the inspiration behind the collection was Le Corbusier meets Baroque. And that was visible in every tiny aspect of the collection. Shapes were simple and clear but the embellishment was extremely rich. Fun thing very often tiny squares of concrete, the material Le Corbusier popularized, were used as an embroidery. So what kind of inspirations can we get for structuring our upcoming fall wardrobe?
Well, you might have heard that Haute Couture fall 2014 week starts in Paris this Sunday ( For all with an interest a detailed schedule is available at the homepage of the Chambre Syndicale)! Since several years I am trying to follow the presentations and of course the streetstyle as close as possible with the help of live streaming (Dior, Margiela, Valentino), runway photos and of course reviews from my all time favorite fashion writer Suzy Menkes (after her departure from the IHT this year now working for VOGUE). However, I guess many people around are questioning what Haute Couture is all about? No single piece arrives ever in store and there are incredibly few woman, who can afford to buy Couture first hand!
Yesterday Chanel cruise Dubai was presented. A little similar to Métiers d’Art Paris Dallas Karl Lagerfeld fused the spirit of Dubai with the Chanel heritage. As typical for a Chanel show there were so many different shapes, patterns, colors and decorative elements in the show that its really hard to name some favorites.
Pants ruled the Chanel cruise Dubai runway with shapes ranging from palazzo over straight and cigarette towards cuffed harem pants. A lot of white pants were present and gave the collection a little bit of Riviera spirit. One of the most adorable pants might have been a white slightly cropped straight pant with 3 little buttons and decorative, cobalt blue embroidery at the ankle. I guess the same pant style was also sent down the runway in black and cream with more simple buttons.
The first photos from the Chanel Dubai show finally hit the internet. And … well at least some of my expectation, which I wrote about here, were fulfilled. Here is a first at the collection. My favorites? Definitely the shoes….
Chanel Dubai show / The shoes
There it was … The flat mule with triangular detailing inspired by traditional Arabian footwear. It looked so cool especially in black.
Chanel Dubai fashion show for resort 2015 will be shown on Tuesday, May 13th. Are you as curious as I am to know what Karl Lagerfeld is going to send down the runway?
