Dries van Noten was part of the “Antwerp 6”, the group of young fashion designers, who rented a truck in 1986 and went to London to show their avantgarde fashion during fashion week with huge success. Today he runs his privately owned business. His approach to fashion is a rare one. Although van Notens label is commercially successful the collections are more based on artistic inspiration than commercial requirements. He is a favorite of stylists and editors, who frequently wear his pieces at fashion week. For fashion outsiders a huge amount of his collections might not seem very wearable. Like most avantgarde fashion brands he has to be understood in order to find pleasure in his pieces!

Trending for 2014 – bomber jackets

OK, the baseball jacket/ MA-1bomber jacket/ blouson style jacket is not a new invention. Initially is was invented back in the 50ies for the air force pilots and found its way into the rave culture during the late 80ies and 90ies. Besides that it is a symbol of American Rock’n Roll, think Grease. For summer 2014 it is seen frequently in the collection.  A trend that seems to continue into fall too.
