I love to give beautiful and original presents to others. In this section I am going to share my favorites for different occasions.

Jewelry – one of the best christmas gift ideas for girlfriends!

Christmas sales kicked off and besides the upcoming Chanel Paris Salzburg collection, which will be presented today at Schloss Leopoldskorn, my thoughts are constantly circling around the question what to buy for Christmas! A few days ago I already discussed the issue of fragrance presents on the blog and today I want to continue with jewellery!

What to give this Christmas?

Well, Black Friday is laying behind us and Cyber Monday is ahead! Christmas sales have officially kicked of and surely its high time to think about what to give to your family and friends this Christmas. As much as I love gift giving I usually feel its a rather easy tasks as the present should reflect the personality of the presenter as much as the personality of the recipient! I don’t have a rational explanation but whenever I start to make up my mind about Christmas presents the first thing that comes in is fragrances. However, over the years I finally got some experience on how to find the perfect fragrance present? So what to keep in mind when buying fragrances for your loved once?

Mothers day gift ideas – place mates, napkins & Co.

We have just returned form a short trip to Venice, where we celebrated our wedding anniversary. It was my fourth time in the city, but the first time I really recognized how beautiful Venice really is. And it inspired me to buy the most beautiful mothers day gift I had thought of during the last years!

While searching for the Traghetto jetty close to our hotel Centurion Palace in Dorsoduro the large Fortuny showroom immediately caught our eyes. I had heard of Fortuny before due to their minimalist spot lamps (Pallucco, Moda lightning, Fortuny Venice) which I still consider as perfect for a dressing room. Upon entering the store with its brick walls and wooden ceiling the rich oriental designs of the wall rugs, table cloths as well as pillow covers caught my eye. The contrast between the rough industrial architecture of the room and the opulence of the fabrics was incredible and provided a great example how to mix those traditional materials in a very contemporary way during times of minimalism. We spotted several great pillow covers, which would have been perfect as a mothers day gift as well as for our own sofa. However, pillows are usually the thing I change quiet often to bring something new into the room (…same habit is true for my mum) and 200 – 250 EURO for one cover were simply too much for me.

No scented candles please…!?

10 days until mothers day – Don’t forget its approaching super fast! A scented candle, particularly a new limited edition – Doesn’t that seem like the ideal present for your mom? Well I thought the same way until I received a little witty birthday invite from a friend some time ago. It read “…PS: Scened candles are not allowed to the party!”. First it made me angry and second it made me think for a while. It was true I had presented her with a Diptyque oriental candle for Christmas, an Astier De Villatte Cabourg candle from Paris, a Memo Marrakech Kiss from Rome, a Jo Malone Peony and blush suede for birthday and on it goes? I loved them all but purchased them for her, because I knew that she is so much more fragrance addicted than me. So what  was her problem?

Mothers day gifts – Some inspirations

Well I had a little crush on shoes during the last posts. So here comes something different! I actually started realizing today that mothers day is approaching super fast (May 11th)! So what to give to your mother? As usual with gifts I like to adhere to the 3 F rule (flowers, food or fashion), which I already presented to you in my Valentins day gift guide. Here is a list of my favorite mothers day gifts. Lets start with flowers!

Mothers day gifts – Yves Piaget roses

I guess there are few people in the world, who don’t like flowers. My favorite ones are roses (But only the ones that have a beautiful scent – A rose that doesn’t smell isn’t a real rose!!!). Yves Piaget roses with their deep, almost peony like petals, and incredible smell are adorable. Arranged with green hortensia and a spot of mauve they are among the best mothers day gifts I can imagine.
