OK I don’t need to tell you that I am kind of an obsessed Chanellista. I love collecting Chanel brooches, bags and shoes but above everything I love the Chanel jackets. For me they are the epitome of sartorial perfection. Whenever I go on a trip the first thing I pack is a Chanel jacket. Afterwards I arrange the rest of the travel wardrobe around that piece.
Talking “must haves” and “It pieces” these days its usually all about the bags, shoes, sunglasses and costume jewelry. Rarely the talk is about clothing! However, for Chanel I personally have the strong feeling that this is absolutely not where it ends. After all Chanel was founded as a Couture house instead of a leather goods business. So let’s have a look at the Chanel pocket jackets from the cruise Seoul runway today!
Fendi bag bugs 2015 – seemed to be one of the hottest themes in the streets during fashion month just a few weeks ago! However, Financial Times fashion editor Jo Ellison called them “… an accessories line of kitsch ephemera that has gained a cult following among street-savvy-girly types “.
Isn’t it tolerable to wear something “cute” as a grown up? Does wearing such a bag bug scream please don’t take me serious I am a teenager in a woman’s body?
Last Tuesday WWD reported that Chanel is about to increase prices for Chanel 2.55 flap bags, Boy bag and 11.12 bag by 20% in the European Union come April 8th while dropping them in China immediately.
Beeing a loyal fan of the brand for so many years I felt devastated. How the hell could they do something like that to all their European customers? Many of my friend had the same feelings and felt certainly a little betrayed. Having a more detailed look on the matter and discussing things with my husband I soon started discovering that there hasn’t been a real chance for Chanel! The Euro has dropped against the Dollar as much as 11% within recent times. Chanel and many other European luxury products have always been between 30 and 60% more expensive in China than in Europe. With the drop of the Euro the price difference has increased further. As a matter of fact the black market trade, which means people buying bags in Europe and reselling them in China has exploded. Of course not all of them traded with the real thing. Consequently, a huge mistrust against Chanel products had emerged in China, thus undermining the brand image on a global scale.
So Chanel might not have betrayed its European customers while trying to protect the brand image on a global scale, but certainly the price increase stimulates us Europeans to look around and search a little deeper to find options! In a previous post I already told you about the Boy bag, which is only 4 years old – so not a real heritage thing, and tried to show you some alternatives. Lets talk Chanel 2.55 this time!
Incredible, how fast time passes by! Middle March the Boulevard Chanel collection will finally hit stores. As always one of the things I am looking most forward to is surely the handbags. Which exceptional pieces from the runway were the most beautiful? Which are the most amazing new colors and textures that will arrive for the classic flap and Boy bags?
Oh how much I love these little witty creatures! Did you know that its already 2 years ago that Karl Lagerfeld created these cute monster fur balls called Fendi Bag Bugs for the first time? I liked them immediately. They reminded me of my childhood when I loved to pick a plush toy charm from Nici, a German brand that is very popular for doing a lot of incredibly cute plush toys, to attach it to my school backpack as a lucky charm. When it started to get torn by carrying it around I put it inside the backpack, but it stayed. In many ways the Fendi Bag Bugs represented a deluxe version of that lucky charm for me. So the idea is great isn’t it! It catches our attention with those childhood memories and puts them in the context of our grown up world! But was it enough to make Fendi bag bugs last?
It feels like next week is going to be a tough and busy one for all Chanel addicts! First Chanel Couture spring 2015 will be presented at the Grand Palais in Paris on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and second the Chanel spring 2015 bags (the act I) will hit stores in Europe (launch date is said to be Jan 27th)! And as usual there are some real beauties among the Chanel spring 2015 bag … let’s get inspired!
Well tomorrow is Christmas Eve! According to CNN only 30% of Americans participating in a survey said that they are going on a leisure trip over the holidays. The vast majority dedicates the holiday season to visiting family and friends or simply staying at home! Anyway I still feel that Christmas Eve is the perfect time to dress up!
Upon hearing Chanel the things that immediately start crossing one’s mind are bags, jackets, pearls, ballet flats, espadrilles. However, as a Chanel collection is strongly based on separates this is rather where it stops than where it begins! So let’s continue and have a look at knitwear, tops and bottoms from the Chanel Salzburg collection, which is going to hit stores next May!
