Skate shoes trend – safe or splurge?

No matter whether its the it piece of the season or a timeless classic, fashion wise we are living in a time of choices. We can shop for look alike items in almost all price ranges. Which makes me come back to the skate shoes trend for a third time in a line. This time to talk about more affordable alternatives to the Celine, Givenchy and Saint Laurent styles!

Buy the style of Kate Moss?! – Kate Moss x Topshop issue N15

Kate Moss designed a total of 14!!!! collections for Topshop between 2007 and 2010. All inspired by her own wardrobe. So Kate Moss x Topshop is actually old news, as is the concept of a “style icon” high street collaboration, just think of the recent Inès de la Fressange X Uniqlo. Deep inside buyers hope to transform into some kind of Kate Moss when wearing a piece from her collection. Does this concept really work or is the obvious comparison with Kate a too high goal?

Double strap Birkenstocks versus crisscross sandals and T bar

Phoebe Philo started the bulky flat sandal trend with her spring 2013 collection one year ago. As Karl Lagerfeld said “There is not beauty without some strangeness in the proportions!” one year ago the ugly shoe trend conquers spring 2014 – It needed some time to become mainstream. However, even when buying an intentionally ugly shoe some considerations have to be made to wear it in style instead of sloppy or bucolic. Double strap shoes, crisscross sandals and T-bars are on offer. Which style to choose mainly depends on the shape of the feet….
