After we visited Palazzo ducale Venice on our first day in Venice Italy we did what all the tourists usually do – Explore the historic city walking along some calli, crossing bridges and finally ended on a picture perfect Piazza. There a beautiful green lacquered early 19th century store front caught our eyes. It belonged to the very lovely pastry shop “Pasticceria Bar Rosa Salva”, where we enjoyed some venetian biscotti.

What to do in Venice? – Visit Palazzo ducale Venice like all the tourists do?!?!?
When talking about holiday memories I often hear people saying we visited all the typical sights. They mean in Paris the Eiffel tower and Louvre and for sure in Venice Piazza San Marco and the Palazzo ducale Venice. However, these are just sights, tourist attractions on the one hand. On the other hand some of them are world cultural heritage and an integral part of our western community. But are they typical for a city?
Centurion Palace – our hotel in Venice
Last Wednesday we just returned from our short trip to Venice Italy. I had visited the city a few times before but never stayed in a city hotel before. Once my visit was a one day stop during a Mediterranean cruise and the other two times I stayed at the Lido. This time we had booked the Centurion Palace hotel in Dorsoduro.
Mothers day gift ideas – place mates, napkins & Co.
We have just returned form a short trip to Venice, where we celebrated our wedding anniversary. It was my fourth time in the city, but the first time I really recognized how beautiful Venice really is. And it inspired me to buy the most beautiful mothers day gift I had thought of during the last years!
While searching for the Traghetto jetty close to our hotel Centurion Palace in Dorsoduro the large Fortuny showroom immediately caught our eyes. I had heard of Fortuny before due to their minimalist spot lamps (Pallucco, Moda lightning, Fortuny Venice) which I still consider as perfect for a dressing room. Upon entering the store with its brick walls and wooden ceiling the rich oriental designs of the wall rugs, table cloths as well as pillow covers caught my eye. The contrast between the rough industrial architecture of the room and the opulence of the fabrics was incredible and provided a great example how to mix those traditional materials in a very contemporary way during times of minimalism. We spotted several great pillow covers, which would have been perfect as a mothers day gift as well as for our own sofa. However, pillows are usually the thing I change quiet often to bring something new into the room (…same habit is true for my mum) and 200 – 250 EURO for one cover were simply too much for me.
“Inspirations” – The current Dries van Noten exhibition in Paris
Its quite a while since we have visited the Dries van Noten exhibition at Les Arts décoratifs in Paris. And almost everyone already said a lot about it on the internet.
