Prada flatforms – The rise of an icon

Prada flatforms seem to be one of the brands icons. Only very recently blogger Leandra Medine chose wearing a pair of Prada creepers while attending Stella McCartney’s pre-fall 2015 presentation. This choice is particularly outstanding because Stella McCartney has a very coveted pair of flatforms, the so called Elyse, too. So lets go a little back in history and see how the Prada flatforms trend evolved!

Are aviator frame glasses a good choice?

Woman wearing glasses in a fashion context still is a rarely touched topic. In men its not that bad when they wear signature glasses, but for woman one of the safest advices seems to be preferring contact lens for most occasions. Anyway, I guess that there are more than a lot woman like me, who do not really have a love affair with contact lens or at least really don’t want to wear them permanently. So besides the discussion of trends in the field of bags and shoes and … I feel its high time to start a discussion about trends in the field of glasses!

Prada creepers – Are they still trending?

Flat platform shoes or flatforms in fashion slang are definitely back on the trend radar for 2015. While about 10 years ago the flatform discussion used to be about sneakers this time around its about Oxford style lace up shoes. The Stella McCartney Elyse platform brogues were one of the most popular shoes during fashion month last September. However, what about the brand that brought the flatform back on the radar? What about the Prada creepers?

Stella McCartney Elyse & the revival of the platform shoes

Platforms are a somewhat strange fashion trend. Let’s be honest the look is not really flattering and its not that easy to walk in them. Despite of these drawbacks its a style that was repopularized in the late 90ies and early 2000s by pop groups like Spice Girls and never really faded afterwards. While in the 90ies the platform sneakers were the ultimate piece, later Christian Louboutin adopted the platform in order to elevate his heels and now classic Oxford lace up shoes received a platform treatment!

Do we need a selfie stick in 2015?

So finally back at work. Let’s start the blog in its new style. As you might have noticed the most integral discussion on the blog will be the one about fashion icons, featuring all the aspects from how fashion icons emerge, change our lives and get copied to how they stay or fade away. As I consider 2015 to be a year in which one of the major discussions will be tech I want to dedicate my first post of the year to the „selfie stick“, you know the extendable rope, which holds your handy while taking a selfie or other picture with your mobile phone?

Dior tribal earrings & more – 2014 in review!

Christmas is officially behind us and I feel that its time to sum up the year 2014. About a year ago I started writing my blog and I really have to admit that it enriches my life enormously. Despite of that, 2014 marks the end of the blog in its present structure. Considering advise of several friends I am going to discontinue the „beauty“, „interior“, „food“ and „travel“ sections to concentrate solely on fashion! However, the content from the discontinued sections will continue to be available on the page! Ok, but what I really want to do today is reflect on what happened in fashion in 2014!

Dior tribal earrings 2015

Dior tribal earrings caught our attention like no other piece of jewelry in 2014. They are simple, basically a preppy pearl stud! However, removing the slightly ugly back closure of the classic pearl stud and substituting it by an oversized pearl they are not only really modern looking but also incredibly creative (basic double pearl version is EUR 280 in the European Union)! Due to the popularity of the item mid market „inspired by“ pieces as well as „knock offs“ really flooded the market in the second half of 2014. So lets see whether „Dior tribal earrings 2015“ will be the next hot topic!

A sparkling Chanel cruise jacket for Christmas Eve …

Well tomorrow is Christmas Eve! According to CNN only 30% of Americans participating in a survey said that they are going on a leisure trip over the holidays. The vast majority dedicates the holiday season to visiting family and friends or simply staying at home! Anyway I still feel that Christmas Eve is the perfect time to dress up!

Let’s get in the mood for Christmas …

Taking into account that this years holiday windows at Parisian department stores have been unveiled in early November I guess I am not sharing some great news. But anyway for me the Parisian Christmas windows are always such a great thing to catapult you into the Christmas spirit that I simply have to share some impressions with you.

Jeff Koons Centre Pompidou …

After the Whitney in New York a Jeff Koons retrospective has hit the Centre Pompidou and we came to see it while in Paris last week. So that’s the most unemotional and boring sentence I have ever started a post with. But somehow it describes my initial feelings towards his art very well. Jeff Koons – “The king of kitsch”, how Forbes calls him, goes for the obvious and plays it bold – bright colors, children’s toys and sex! As a matter of fact his works do not seem to blend well with my minimalist, discreet aesthetics that are mostly defined in black and white as well as nature inspired neutrals. So what made us go there? Did we got caught up within the heavy advertisement?
