Trend report fall 2014 – The mod shift dress

Guess that even those persons with only the slightest fashion interest have recognized that 60ies are back this fall. In a previous post I already showed you the softly draped side of the era by means of Ossie Clark style flouncy dresses. But sure there is also another more structured and tailored side – its the original mod shift dress.

Making the woman’s tux relaxed and sensual taking inspiration from Valentino Couture fall 2014

For a long time the house of Valentino had been famous for ultra feminine and playful pieces with heavy decoration consisting of flowers and ruffles. After Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli had been appointed as creative directors a slow and steady change started at the house. Now some of the foremost Valentino signatures are minimalism, grace and dignity. Runway shoes are almost always flat, dresses are usually simple with a high neckline and long sleeves. Thus the most recent Valentino Couture presentation with its Greco Roman, medieval and even little 60ies spirit was no exception! That said, what were the inspirations for all those fashionistas, who do not belong to the Couture customer circle can draw?

Iconic fashion pieces – build to last or to fade fast? – Valentino Rockstud

In this section I am going to share my thoughts on iconic fashion pieces with you. You know every season there are the trends and some items that are seen more than often in street style, fashion journals etc.. These pieces generate a hype and and..? Fade soon … or become a signature of the label…?

I still remember seeing the first Valentino Rockstud heels embellished with the little four sided pyramids back in early fall 2010. I went into the store tried them on, loved them, ask the shop assistant to put them aside until next day, but returned less than one hour later to buy them. Until today I adore with med style pants, skinny jeans, shorts and skirts. They almost always find their way into my suitcase when traveling and accompany my for day plus night.
