Prada flatforms seem to be one of the brands icons. Only very recently blogger Leandra Medine chose wearing a pair of Prada creepers while attending Stella McCartney’s pre-fall 2015 presentation. This choice is particularly outstanding because Stella McCartney has a very coveted pair of flatforms, the so called Elyse, too. Flat platform shoes or flatforms in fashion slang are definitely back on the trend radar for 2015. While about 10 years ago the flatform discussion used to be about sneakers this time around its about Oxford style lace up shoes. The Stella McCartney Elyse platform brogues were one of the most popular shoes during fashion month last September. However, what about the brand that brought the flatform back on the radar? Stella McCartney Elyse & the revival of the platform shoes

Platforms are a somewhat strange fashion trend. Let’s be honest the look is not really flattering and its not that easy to walk in them. Despite of these drawbacks its a style that was repopularized in the late 90ies and early 2000s by pop groups like Spice Girls and never really faded afterwards. While in the 90ies the platform sneakers were the ultimate piece, later Christian Louboutin adopted the platform in order to elevate his heels and now classic Oxford lace up shoes received a platform treatment!

Dior tribal earrings & more – 2014 in review!

Christmas is officially behind us and I feel that its time to sum up the year 2014. About a year ago I started writing my blog and I really have to admit that it enriches my life enormously. Despite of that, 2014 marks the end of the blog in its present structure. Considering advise of several friends I am going to discontinue the „beauty“, „interior“, „food“ and „travel“ sections to concentrate solely on fashion! However, the content from the discontinued sections will continue to be available on the page! Ok, but what I really want to do today is reflect on what happened in fashion in 2014!

Dior tribal earrings caught our attention like no other piece of jewelry in 2014. They are simple, basically a preppy pearl stud! However, removing the slightly ugly back closure of the classic pearl stud and substituting it by an oversized pearl they are not only really modern looking but also incredibly creative (basic double pearl version is EUR 280 in the European Union)! Due to the popularity of the item mid market „inspired by“ pieces as well as „knock offs“ really flooded the market in the second half of 2014. So lets see whether „Dior tribal earrings 2015“ will be the next hot topic!

Chanel Salzburg shoe parade …

After talking Chanel Salzburg handbags yesterday lets come to the shoes today! Paris Salzburg was full of great shoes, that provided a perfect fusion of the codes of Chanel and the Salzburg theme of the collection. One of my personal top pieces were the Chanel combat boots 2015. Surely they showed certain parallels to the fall 2014 sneaker boots. But this time around they seemed to be more gracile thus making them a lot more wearable. In particular the all black shoes showed great potential to become one of the ultimate “It” pieces of the collection.

Surely the bags presented on a Chanel runway only make up a small portion of the huge amount of new colors and textures that will finally appear in store with a collection. And yes the runway bags aren’t really classy. Maybe not even timeless. Its always so exciting when a new Chanel collection hits stores. Sure some pieces have already arrived since early October but the official international launch date for Chanel cruise 2015, the Dubai show, is November 18th so its still ahead of us!!! And one of the things I am looking most forward to is surely the handbags. Which exceptional pieces from the runway were the most beautiful? Which are the most amazing new colors and textures that will arrive for the classic flap and Boy bags?

Louis Vuitton’s La Petite Malle, you know the trunk shaped minaudière, seems to have set a trend towards boxy little hand bags. For all those, who got a bit disappointed by preorder and waiting list policies as well the significant change between the runway piece and the style that finally became available, I somehow feel that there is a pretty little alternative!

Handbag trends for fall 2014 anyone?

Oh yes I know I am really late to finish my fall trend coverage. Some department stores already offer mid-season sale and the cruise collections are about to arrive in store within the next week. So its high time to hurry and finish my fall trend report. After reflecting on headgear, scarfs, coats, sweaters, lots of denim, dresses and skirts its finally time to come to one of the most important wardrobe departments – HANDBAGS … In contrast to the aforementioned wardrobe departments, where everything seems to be about general trends and tendencies, I feel that in the field of bags its more about brand specific timeless or seasonal “It Bags”.

So let’s start with Chanel. Sure the brand has its classic flap bag, reissue 2.55 and the boy bag. But besides that the Chanel shows are as much about what models wear as they are about what models carry! So which bags are the bags of the fall winter 2014 season? I feel its the bandana bag from Métiers d’Art Paris Dallas. Somehow a descrete bag as it was neither featured in the Kristen Stewart campaign nor is it presented on the brands web page for everyone to see.
